What is Triund?

Triund is a welcoming plateau of grassy land situated at a height of 2,875 metres. The trek to Triund will take about 5 hours. The reward is a spectacular view of the Dhauladhar mountain range, specifically Mun Peak in northern India. Gary Diggins and I took that trek when we travelled to India in the spring of 2006. So it is aptly symbolic that the name for our music ensemble and the music that we play simply represents a journey; one that has a beginning, middle and an end; from here to there and back again; from silence to loudness and back to silence.

However, in all likelihood, I will never make it back to Triund. Although I’m sure I would enjoy a recurring visit, I would begin to lose the profound first impression that the Triund plateau had for me. So it is unlikely that Triund the ensemble will ever play the same music again; taking the same musical path to the same musical place.
